Achieving this result and at the same time, avoiding lame shopping gimmicks, would be a challenge. After a few brainstorming sessions, we settled on an idea that we taught would work.
What did we do?
Our new store decor was inspired by the classic crossword. On long strips of card suspended from the ceiling, we had hints printed on one side and blanks on the other side. Customers would walk around the store, trying to crack the hints and get answers to the crossword. For every answer they get right, they are eligible for a discount coupon, which they blindly pick from a basket. These coupons double up as cute bookmarks.
