Where does a successful design career start?
The first step is realising you have a passion for design. You cannot expect your design career to flourish if you aren’t enthusiastic about design. Once you know for sure that you want to pursue a career in design, here’s what to do next.
Bachelors in Design (B.Des)
As explained in the poster above, once you have graduated 12th grade, you have a variety of options to chose from. You can apply to private colleges offering design courses. In India, IIT Bombay, NIFT and NID are renowned institutions for design courses. These universities have their own entrance exams – UCEED, NIFT Written test and NID DAT.
Post Graduation (M.Des)
B.des graduates aren’t the only people eligible to apply for a post graduation in design. Graduates from most other courses such as Engineering, Fine Arts, etc. can also sign up for an M.Des degree. For entry into colleges offering Post Graduation courses, there are obviously a different set of entrance exams to attempt. NIFT, NID and IIT offer PG courses in design as well.
