A common misconception is that the design process and design thinking are both the same thing. People belonging to many different fields try to employ design thinking so that they can think more “creatively”. However, they end up following the design process. People belonging to fields other than design can’t benefit from this.
What’s the difference?
The design process starts with empathising with the user and eventually building prototypes and testing the usability of the product. Even a lawyer or a software professional can use design thinking as a tool, just to stay creative.
Session conducted for Infineon Technologies
Gemklip conducted a session for software professionals from Infineon Technologies ( Semiconductor Manufacturing Company ) during May 2019. The aim of the session was to give software professionals an idea about design thinking. It can be used in their routine to help them stay creative. In addition, participants were taken first to the Gemklip store to have a look at our products. After that, they settled for a 3-hour session at the Gemklip design studio.

Feedback
” Quiet different from what we expected actually. It will be quiet helpful in going back to our office an thinking about different problems.”
” It was a great session, and helped us understand how we can apply design thinking in both personal and professional lives. I’ve been to a few other ‘design thinking’ sessions, but this one really helped me look at things differently.”
The gist of it all
In conclusion, as one of the participants said, ” The crux of the whole thing was that design thinking can be applied anywhere. No matter personal life, or professional life. A person of any age can actually use it.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
